[ARCHIVED] Fire in Powhatan Secondary Displaces Homeowners

James City County Fire Department

On May 9 at 3:20 p.m., units from the James City County Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 4000 block of Powhatan Secondary in the Powhatan Secondary subdivision. A neighbor called 911 reporting a fire in the garage and alerted the occupant of the home. First arriving units found heavy fire conditions in the garage that had extended to the second floor and attic area. The fire was brought under control at 4:38 p.m., after causing extensive fire and smoke damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no injuries. The Williamsburg Fire Department and York County Department of Fire and Life Safety assisted.
