The Williamsburg Winery in James City County was purchased by Patrick and Peggy Duffeler in 1983. The first vineyards were planted in 1985 and the first harvest was in 1987. The Williamsburg Winery is proud to make the Governor’s White, which is the bestselling Virginia wine in the state.
The Williamsburg Winery has won many awards over the years. Most notably, the 2010 Adagio was the winner of the 2014 Virginia Governor’s Cup. The Gabriel Archer Reserve is also an award-winning wine. The wines of the Williamsburg Winery have won more than 200 awards and accolades over the years.
The Williamsburg Winery is part of both the Williamsburg Tasting Trail and the Colonial Wine Trail. The Williamsburg Tasting Trail includes other nearby producers of mead, craft beer and spirits.
