Calling all citizens to Team Up 2 Clean Up! It’s time for the 41st Annual Countywide Spring Cleanup event with a material collection date scheduled for April 13 from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Jolly Pond Transfer Station.
Citizens are encouraged to form their own teams and select a cleanup location of their choice. Otherwise, they may contact the Clean County Commission for cleanup site suggestions and/or to be placed on an existing team.
This event was created in 1979 to encourage citizens to clean up litter in public common areas and right of ways throughout the month of April. Local volunteers have removed over seven million pounds of trash from County roadsides and illegal dump sites over the last four decades. Over 400 James City County residents participated in last year’s event.
The Clean County Commission will provide bags, grabbers, vests and free disposal of collected roadside litter. As a show of gratitude, the Clean County Commission is hosting a volunteer appreciation picnic at Veterans Park following the event.
Interested groups and individuals should register online. For more information on how you can participate in this event, please call 757-565-0032 or email litter@jamescitycountyva.gov.
