James City County is still accepting entries for the holiday ornament contest. The competition is being held to represent the County in the decorating of the 2015 Holiday Tree at the Governor’s Executive Mansion in Richmond, VA. The theme of the holiday tree is “Celebrating Virginia’s Localities.” Each of Virginia’s 95 counties, 38 cities and 191 towns will have the opportunity to be represented in the mansion’s ballroom, which is open to visitors throughout the holiday season.
Localities are asked to submit one hand-crafted ornament that uniquely represents their community. The contest began on Aug. 10, and James City County will continue accepting submissions until Sept. 30. Ornaments must be a depiction of a feature unique to the County. Ornaments must be made by adults aged 18 years and older. Individuals are welcome to submit multiple ornaments, but each ornament must follow the specific contest rules and guidelines.
Entries must be submitted via email in form of photograph to enter in the contest. All photographs must follow the submission guidelines. Both amateur and professional submissions will be accepted. Ornaments must be original and not copyrighted. The winning ornament will become property of the James City County and will be held by Virginia Association of Counties. All entries must be submitted by Sept. 30, 2015.
All entries must be submitted via ornament@jamescitycountyva.gov, follow the contest guidelines and include entry forms.
