The Economic Development Authority (EDA) of James City County approved their 2019 meeting calendar at its December organizational meeting. The calendar includes a date change. The monthly EDA meetings will now occur on the third Tuesday of each month at 4 p.m. Previously, meetings were held monthly on the second Thursday.

Additionally, new officers were selected at the December EDA meeting. Robin Bledsoe will continue to serve as chair and Michael Maddocks will serve as vice-chair. Bledsoe has served the EDA since September 2017 and Maddocks has served on the EDA since August 2018. Previously, Bledsoe served on the James City County Planning Commission. Bledsoe is CEO of B&D Capacity Builders and author of Trail Magic: A Journey About Starting in One Place and Ending in Another. Maddocks is Senior Vice President of Business Development for Village Bank.

At a later date, the EDA will approve its 2019 meeting calendar for its Real Estate Committee. The calendar will be available online. The Real Estate Committee is a three-member subcommittee of the EDA.

The EDA is a seven-member volunteer board whose members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors and serve staggered four-year terms. The Authority’s mission is to assist and support James City County and the Office of Economic Development in fostering the development and expansion of a diversified and healthy base of primary businesses and industry to balance the tax base, increase job opportunities, enhance the quality of life in James City County and perform required statutory roles.
