[ARCHIVED] Police and Fire to Offer Active Shooter and Stop the Bleed Training

James City County’s Police and Fire Departments are hosting two CRASE (Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events)/Stop the Bleed training sessions:

Feb. 23, 5-9 p.m., Fire Training Center, 2077 John Tyler Highway February Session Registration 

March 23, 8 a.m.-noon, Law Enforcement Center, 4600 Opportunity Way March Session Registration 

There is no charge for attendance and the courses are available to anyone age 16 or older. Sessions are limited to 25 participants.

CRASE (Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events) provides strategies, guidance and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event. CRASE was designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend strategy developed by ALERRT in 2004.

Stop the Bleed provides strategies, guidance and practical skills to handle a trauma related bleeding situation from an active shooter or everyday life. Stop the Bleed was created after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in December 2012.
