[ARCHIVED] Dec. 10, 5 p.m. Update - 2,158 Remain Without Power

Road conditions throughout the County have improved throughout the day. However, temperatures will drop to freezing at 6 p.m. tonight and will not get above freezing until 11 a.m. tomorrow, Dec. 11. Roads that are currently wet will most likely become icy as the temperature drops to 24 degrees at 3 a.m.

Closings and Delays

All parks remain closed except for Warhill, Chickahominy Riverfront Park and the James City County Marina.

The Toano Convenience Center is closed due to a power outage.

Curbside recycling collection for the week is pushed back one day.

Power Outages

As of 5 p.m. Dec. 10, approximately 2,158 Dominion Energy customers in the County are without power. Crews are continuing to work to restore power as soon as possible. Be sure to report outages by calling 866-366-4357 or going to…/report-and-check-outages.

Need Heat?

Anyone needing heat or showers can go to the Recreation Center (5301 Longhill Road) tonight until 9 p.m. The Recreation Center is scheduled to reopen at 6 a.m., Dec. 11.

Heat is also available at the libraries (7770 Croaker Road and 515 Scotland Street) tonight until 9 p.m. The libraries are scheduled to reopen at 10 a.m., Dec. 11.

Stay at least 30 feet away from downed lines - consider them energized and dangerous. Report downed power lines to Dominion at 866-366-4357.

Use a flashlight; candles can cause a fire.

Check on neighbors.

Avoid carbon monoxide poisoning. Only use generators and grills outdoors and away from windows. Never heat your home with a gas stovetop or oven.
