Master Police Officer (MPO) Brandon Frantz was awarded the Law Enforcement Commendation Certificate and Medal by the Williamsburg Sons of the American Revolution on Nov. 2. MPO Frantz was further recognized at Eighteenth Annual Greater Hampton Roads Regional Crime Lines Dinner and Top Cop Awards on Nov. 3 at the Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront in Virginia Beach.
MPO Frantz, the Department’s 2018 Officer of the year, has made significant contributions to both the Department and the community over the past year. Frantz has steadily worked towards becoming a leader on his shift, both formally and informally. He trained as an Officer in Charge (OIC) and now runs Day Shift in the absence of the regular supervisors. He is greatly respected by his peers and supervisors as he leads by example and goes out of his way to assist anyone, regardless of shift or division. Due to his work ethic, performance level and standards, he was selected to become a Field Training Officer and successfully trained a new recruit this past year.
Frantz has consistently proven his ability to stay calm under pressure. In high stress situations, he is able to maintain levelheadedness and safety to resolve the issue for all involved. He is an active member of the SWAT Team and the Marine Patrol Unit. Even with his additional duties, he frequently offers to stay late or take a ride along regardless of his wants or needs. Brandon has separated himself from his peers and was recently chosen to fill a valuable position in the Community Services Unit. This speaks to the level of respect he shows individuals as well as his dedication to improve our community.
The Department is pleased to see MPO Frantz recognized by organizations in the area for his efforts towards community safety and proud to have MPO Frantz represent our Department at these events.
