The James City County Police Department will offer two free firearm safety classes to the public on Feb. 2 and Feb. 24. Each one session class will cover basic safety, handling, and storage.

The class will meet at the Law Enforcement Center at 4600 Opportunity Way from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The class does not include hands-on training and personal firearms should be left at home in a secure location.

Pre-registration is required and class size is limited. Contact Master Officer Alan McDowell at 757-603-6026 to register.

Grant funding received from the National Rifle Association Foundation and Project ChildSafe was used to purchase class materials and gunlocks for this free class.
