[ARCHIVED] H&H Medical Corporation Receives 2018 Captain John Smith Award

Celebration of Business Winner 2018

The James City County (JCC) Board of Supervisors and Economic Development Authority recognized H&H Medical Corporation (H&H) as this year’s recipient of the Captain John Smith Award during the 25th annual Celebration of Business. This award is presented each year by the County’s economic development team to a business, organization or individual for exemplary contributions in the County.

H&H was founded more than 30 years ago as an engineering consulting firm, but transitioned more than 15 years ago to their current industry, combat first aid, and relocated to James City County in 2016. H&H is one of the leading manufacturers of emergency medical bandages and trauma solutions for the military, civilian law enforcement, private industry, foreign agencies and civilians.

In 2018, H&H received recognition for its newest product the H*VENT Vented Chest Seal (H*VENT). The H*VENT is a hydrogel chest dressing designed to relieve pressure from an open chest wound due to air in the chest (pneumothorax) or bodily fluid (hemothorax).

H&H designs and manufactures their products at their County headquarters. Their line of products includes the SWAT-T tourniquet, the H*VENT, the H-Bandage compression dressing and other products for emergency trauma situations. H&H is known for their line of bleeding control kits including the “Grab and Go” kits for easy packing and use.

“We are pleased that H&H (Medical Corporation) led by Paul Harder and his staff of 35 employees are committed to helping save lives in James City County, in the United States of America and across the globe,” said Robin Bledsoe, Chair of the Economic Development Authority.

Additionally, the Office of Economic Development debuted a new video, “25 Years of Manufacturing in James City County.” The video is available to view online and below.

The Celebration of Business is an appreciation event for existing companies in JCC. The event was held on Nov. 1 at Legacy Hall. Previous winners of the Captain John Smith award include Anheuser-Busch, Ball Corporation, Owens-Illinois, Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Coresix Precision Glass, La Tienda, Kingsmill Resort, Williamsburg Landing and the Williamsburg Winery.
