[ARCHIVED] Police Seek Information on Check Fraud Incident

Check Fraud Suspect - 18002024

On June 26, a Newport News resident reported to JCC Police that his residence in Newport News was burglarized sometime around June 1. Because his home had been ransacked, he hadn’t noticed that checks had been stolen until one of the checks was forged and deposited into an account at a bank in James City County. The funds were later withdrawn by a third party. The check was made out for $505. Surveillance photos captured the individual that withdrew the funds.

If you are able to identify this individual or know who may have been involved in this incident, please contact Investigator Schugeld at 757-259-5159 or richard.schugeld@jamescitycountyva.gov. You may also contact the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Callers to the Crime Line may remain anonymous, do not have to testify in court and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if the information leads to an arrest.
