[ARCHIVED] Lightning Strike Causes House Fire in Chickahominy Haven

Units from the James City Bruton and James City County Fire Departments responded to a structure fire in the 7200 block of Osprey Drive in the Chickahominy Haven area on Aug. 21.

Crews responded at approximately 4 p.m. after a 911 call from the homeowner reported the fire. Firefighters arrived observing flames on the second floor of the home.

The fire caused heavy damage to the second floor and has displaced the family who are staying with friends. One family member was evaluated by medics for smoke inhalation. There were no other injuries.

A lightning strike was determined to be cause of the fire. Units from the New Kent County Fire Department and York County Department of Fire and Life Safety assisted.
