Launchpad

James City County is pleased to announce that Launchpad, the Greater Williamsburg Business Incubator, was winner of the 2018 Gold Award for Best Business Incubator/Startup Program from CoVaBiz during their Best of Business awards. CoVaBiz is the business magazine of Coastal Virginia. The awards will be published in the October/November issue of the magazine.

Launchpad currently has 17 clients including SVT Robotics, who have been accepted into an accelerator program hosted by 757 Accelerate. SVT Robotics will receive a $20,000 investment, expand their knowledge and meet investors, mentors and regional business leaders along a 12-week journey. The program begins on August 27 and only five businesses were accepted to participate. 757 Accelerate received interest from 187 companies.

SVT Robotics provides software platforms for warehouse automation that improve process efficiency, integrate seamlessly and improve communication. SVT Robotics uses machine learning to empower companies to adopt disruptive robotics solutions and quickly adapt to a rapidly evolving marketplace and improve supply chain. SVT Robotics joined Launchpad in March 2018.

Additionally, Launchpad will be hosting 757Pitch on Tuesday, Sept. 18 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. This event is sponsored by Startwheel.org and Old Dominion University and features seven minute pitches from five businesses. The winner receives $757. People can apply to pitch at 757pitch.org.

“We are so excited about the accomplishments and upcoming events that Launchpad is involved in,” said Tim Ryan, Launchpad Executive Director.

Launchpad began as the James City County Technology Incubator in 2006 and has evolved over the years. Launchpad became a limited liability company in Oct. 2016 and is funded by the Economic Development Authorities of the City of Williamsburg and the Counties of James City and York with support from the College of William & Mary.
