[ARCHIVED] Williamsburg Landing Partners with Hospice House of Williamsburg & Support Care of Williamsburg

Landing HHSCW

James City County is pleased to announce that Williamsburg Landing is partnering with Hospice House & Support Care of Williamsburg (HHSCW) beginning in September 2018.

HHSCW staff will provide Williamsburg Landing employees with end-of-life education, enhancing Williamsburg Landing’s ability to provide the best possible care to their residents and family members. This training will be led by HHSCW staff: Nicole Osborne (programs director) and supplemented by Heidi Crocker (clinical director), Hannah Creager (chaplaincy director), and Bell-Jo Rodgers (nurse consultant emeritus).

This is a significant affiliation for Williamsburg Landing with HHSCW, an established and highly respected organization in Williamsburg. This new program is designed to prepare Williamsburg Landing team members to explore areas of focus essential to end-of-life. These areas include personal views on death and death anxiety; the signs, symptoms and stages of the dying process; supporting the dying process and caregiver self-care.

“At Williamsburg Landing, we are committed to remaining on the leading edge of senior living. Our partnership with Hospice House will support our commitment to best practices in every area of service,” said Gregory Storer, president and chief executive officer.

Other affiliations and partnerships include the International Council on Active Aging, LeadingAge (National), LeadingAge Virginia and Virginia Health Care Association - Virginia Center for Assisted Living. Locally, Williamsburg Landing works with the Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra, the Williamsburg Community Foundation, Peninsula Agency on Aging, Historic Virginia Land Conservancy and the Greater Williamsburg Chamber & Tourism Alliance.

Williamsburg Landing is a Life Plan Community (formerly known as Continuing Care Retirement Community) that opened in James City County in 1985. Williamsburg Landing residents enjoy a vibrant independent lifestyle complemented by comprehensive onsite healthcare. Williamsburg Landing is the first and only accredited Life Plan Community in Hampton Roads. Its accreditation is from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, the nation’s only accrediting body for Life Plan Communities.
