[ARCHIVED] Training Grenades Found at Transfer Station

At approximately 7:15 a.m. June 1, James City County staff at the Transfer Station, located at 1204 Jolly Pond Road, discovered what appeared to be four inert, or non-explosive, grenades.

The Fire Marshal’s Office contacted the Navy’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team who confirmed the grenades were non-explosive and used for training. The grenades have been removed and the Transfer Station and Jolly Pond Road have reopened.
