[ARCHIVED] Celebrate Mother’s Day with Your Mom

Mothers Day

Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 13. Celebrate with your mom by spending some time together or buying her a thoughtful present.

  • If mom loves history, make sure to take her to Jamestown Day on Saturday, May 12. Jamestown Day celebrates the 411th anniversary of the settlers landing in Jamestown. Both Historic Jamestowne and Jamestown Settlement participate in Jamestown Day. A variety of family-friendly programs on Powhatan and English weaponry, military and maritime demonstrations, and traditional music and entertainment will take place at both sites. Admission is required to both Historic Jamestowne and Jamestown Settlement, but a value ticket can be purchased that also includes two Yorktown sites.
  • Enjoy the outdoors by spending Mother’s Day at York River State Park at their annual Mother’s Day Surf & Turf on Sunday, May 13 from 2-5 p.m. Treat mom to a day on the water and fossil hunting. This ranger-guided program takes our guests to Fossil Beach to search for relics of the prehistoric era.  Mom paddles for free with paid guest.  Canoes are $9/person or $6/person (family of 4+), solo kayaks are $16, and tandem kayaks are $11/person.  Please call 757-566-3036 for reservations.
  • If your mom enjoys wine, take an afternoon and enjoy the Williamsburg Winery. There is a great online-only offer that includes a tour, tasting and lunch for only $35 per person. This includes a tour of the winery, a tasting of seven wines with a souvenir glass and lunch at the Gabriel Archer Tavern. Another option at the Williamsburg Winery is a special Mother’s Day Jazz Brunch on Sunday, May 13 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. The menu sounds delicious!
  • Get creative by attending a class together at a local art studio such as Artfully Yours Art Studio or the DIY Workshop. This is a fun way to spend time together!
  • Take mom strawberry picking at MillFarm Christmas Trees & Berry Farm and then go home and whip up a delicious treat! Make sure to check their Facebook page for updates on the crop.
