[ARCHIVED] Police seize marijuana and cash from home

On Wednesday evening, April 21, James City County Police arrested Rashad Fits Byrd, 27 of Sand Drive West and charged him with possession with intent to distribute more than a 1/4 ounce but less than 5 pounds of marijuana following a search of his residence in James City County.

At 9 p.m. on April 21, members of the Tri-Rivers Drug Task Force and the JCCPD SWAT team executed a search warrant on a home in the 200 block of Sand Drive West. As a result, police seized approximately a pound and a half of marijuana and over $14,000 in cash. Byrd was released from the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail on a $4,000 secured bond. Photos of Byrd and the marijuana and cash seized are attached to this release.

The Tri-Rivers Drug Task Force is made up of seven agencies in six jurisdictions, which include the Virginia State Police, James City County Police Department, York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office, Poquoson Police Department, Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office, Matthews County Sheriff’s Office and the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office.
