The James City County Historical Commission is currently seeking applications for new members. Interested County residents and residents of adjacent localities can submit an application to serve. Applications are considered on a rolling basis and members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors.
The Commission’s primary objectives are to document, commemorate, preserve and promote public interest in the history and historic legacy of the County. The Commission helps to ensure that historic buildings and archaeological sites are surveyed, identified and documented; assembles, preserves and disseminates information about such buildings and sites; advises the County government and appropriate private parties on historical considerations relating to the use and development of land; and conducts and encourages educational activities that will stimulate interest in the history and archaeology of the County.
More information about the Historical Commission and its ongoing projects is available on the Commission’s website.
