[ARCHIVED] Signs Installed in Response to Panhandling

Do not encourage panhandling sign posted

You might notice new signs in the area asking drivers to not encourage panhandling by giving money from vehicles. While it is not against the law to panhandle on VDOT right-of-ways, it isn’t the safest way to get assistance.

The new signs encourage those panhandling to call the Regional Housing Crisis Hotline, 1-866-750-4431. For information regarding other resources for those in need, please call the James City County Department of Social Services at 757-259-3100.
