[ARCHIVED] Fire Units Respond to House Fire

James City County Fire Department

James City County Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Shirley Drive in the Riverview Plantation subdivision late Friday. Units from York County Department of Fire and Life Safety assisted.

Crews were dispatched at 9:40 p.m. and arrived at 9:51 p.m. to find fire in the garage that had extended to the attic of the two-story home. Crews controlled the fire from the exterior before to entering to complete extinguishment. The fire was under control at 11:45 p.m. The occupants were home at the time of the fire and safely exited prior to the Fire Department’s arrival.

The home sustained significant fire and smoke damage. Fire units cleared the scene at 2 a.m. The cause is under investigation.
