[ARCHIVED] 4th Annual Litter & Recycling Expo

In honor of America Recycles Day (Nov. 15), the James City Clean County Commission is partnering with Solid Waste and Recycling to host the 4th Annual Litter & Recycling Expo. The event is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Jolly Pond Convenience Center, 1204 Jolly Pond Road. The Expo is free and open to the public.

This year’s Expo will showcase the updated Jolly Pond Convenience Center with site improvements to aid stormwater management and customer ease-of-use. There will be many educational displays and interactive activities for all ages. Keep James City County Beautiful will be there to talk about upcoming opportunities for volunteer participation in the areas of litter prevention, community beautification and parks and schools recycling. Representatives will be on hand to answer questions about the James City County curbside recycling program. Other representatives from James City County Law Enforcement and Citizen Engagement and will display information on their green initiatives and will be eager to answer any questions.

Visitors should bring one of the items listed below for recycling to receive a free gift!

  • Cardboard
  • Electronics
  • Foil & pie pans
  • Glass bottles & jars
  • Kitchen grease
  • Metal cans/lids
  • Mixed paper
  • Motor oil
  • Plastic bottles
  • 20-lb propane tanks
  • Rechargeable batteries
  • Lead-acid batteries
  • Scrap metal
  • Plastic bags

The Clean County Commission organizes a number of reoccurring programs throughout the year including the County-Wide Spring Cleanup, the Good Neighbor Environment Grant, the Quarterly Clean Business Forum, the Adopt-A-Spot program and a variety of environmental education and outreach initiatives.
