[ARCHIVED] Voter Registration Deadline is Oct. 16, 2017

The voter registration deadline for the upcoming election is Oct. 16, 2017.

Successful registration enables all eligible Virginia voters to cast their ballot in the upcoming election on Nov. 7.

To register to vote or update voter registration information:

  • By mail: Applications must be postmarked by Oct. 16.
  • In-person: Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Oct. 16.
  • Online: Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 16.

Any Virginian can check or update their registration information or register for the first time at the Department’s Online Citizen Portal, available at vote.virginia.gov.

For information on additional registration sites, absentee voting, sample ballots and more, visit jamescitycountyva.gov/vote or call 757-259-4949.

As a reminder, residents may have recently received mail promoting absentee voting. The letter included an incorrect address, telephone number and hours for the James City County Voter Registration and Elections Office.

The correct address is 5300 Palmer Lane, Williamsburg, VA 23188. The office is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. The office will also be open Saturday, Oct. 28 and Saturday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. for absentee voting.
