[ARCHIVED] Alewerks Opens New Tasting Room at Williamsburg Premium Outlets

James City County is pleased to announce that Alewerks Brewing Company has opened its new tasting room at the Williamsburg Premium Outlets. The new venture is an open-concept retail store and micro-brewing facility in 3,000 square feet and is located at 5715 Richmond Road in BO36 next to Columbia Sportswear Company. The tasting room allows shoppers a place to sample the many beers that Alewerks has to offer with 10 beers on tap. Visitors may also purchase branded merchandise, six-packs to take home, non-alcoholic beverages and pre-packaged snacks.

Hours for the tasting room will be the same as hours for the Williamsburg Premium Outlets.

In the coming weeks, a new 93 gallon brewing system for special small-batch brews and a three barrel system for on-site brewing will be added to the space.

Alewerks Managing Director and longtime brewmaster Geoff Logan stated, “We are excited to open and even more excited about being able to brew smaller, more creative batches than previously possible.”

Alewerks opened its brewery and taproom in York County in 2006 and is not far from the its new tasting room at Williamsburg Premium Outlets. Their current taproom will continue to be the sole location for new releases, community events and entertainment. Alewerks has received numerous awards including a recent gold medal in the 2017 Virginia Craft Brewers Cup in the European Pale Lager category for their Weekend Lager.

Williamsburg Premium Outlets is located at 5715 Richmond Road and has more than 135 stores including Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, J. Crew, Michael Kors, Nautica, The North Face and more. Williamsburg Premium Outlets has been open since 1988.
