[ARCHIVED] Winds cause downed trees, property damage

IMG_0007

A fast moving thunderstorm system moved through James City County Thursday, April 6, 2017. The initial storm brought expected rain and much needed pollen relief, however, gusting winds followed the storm bringing down several trees throughout the County. Power lines were disrupted in several incidents, causing a power surge in the New Town area along with several other minor outages.  A tree fell on News Road near the Firestone entrance to Ford's Colony causing damage to a windshield of a car. Another tree fell on a home on Forest Court in the Forest Glen subdivision causing roof and kitchen damage.

There were no injuries in any of the incidents, and the residents of the home have been temporarily displaced and will be staying with friends.
