James City County Parks & Recreation began the update of its Master Plan last August. The Master Plan is the Department’s most important guide for developing the programs, parks and facilities important to you and your family over the next five years and beyond. The official citizen engagement process was held in November and included a services survey, community and focus group meetings as well as your calls and letters to us which helped shape the draft plan. A draft of the Master Plan is available for your review, and is also accessible from the Parks & Recreation homepage at jamescitycountyva.gov/recreation. Please take time to review the progress we’ve made, and the plan to provide the programs, services and facilities that you’ve requested.
If we haven’t detailed your needs in the draft plan, there’s still time to share your thoughts – write us at parks.rec@jamescitycountyva.gov and let us know what you’d like to see in the future of parks and recreation. The draft Master Plan goes before the Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission in February, the James City County Planning Commission in March and then to the James City County Board of Supervisors in April.
