[ARCHIVED] JCC Police respond to fatal vehicle crash

On Jan. 19 at approximately 7:45 a.m., James City County Police were dispatched to a vehicle crash near the intersection of Richmond Road and Industrial Boulevard. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2003 Ford Taurus was headed east bound on Richmond Road. In the area of the 8200 block, the vehicle crossed over the median and struck a tractor trailer truck head on. The truck had just turned right onto Richmond Road from Industrial Boulevard. The driver of the Ford Taurus was identified as Sandra Sarah Dunaway, 59 years of age, of Providence Forge. She was not believed to be wearing her seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck driver is 40 years of age from Yorktown and was not injured.    

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. At this time, Richmond Road remains closed at Industrial Boulevard.
