James City County will display 20 rural photographs in Building E of the Government Center, 101 Mounts Bay Rd., from Nov. 12 through Jan. 26, 2016. The exhibit is open to the public to view during regular County business hours Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The photographs were collected as part of the Rural Photo Contest sponsored by the James City County Rural Economic Development Committee. More than 60 photographs of locations in the County were submitted in 10 categories: farm and working lands; rivers, waterways and farm ponds; native flora and fauna; farm animals and wildlife; farm equipment; rural recreation; rural lifestyle; rural routes; ugly produce and tremendous timber. Photographs were judged by a panel of five judges with experience in art, photography and rural lands and were originally displayed as part of a glass, floral and photography exhibit at Launchpad. The Building E display will include the winners and runners up from each category.
Winners of the Rural Photo Contest were Timothy Mills, Peter Pritchard, Ashlie Shellenberger, Michael Crowder, Shannon Schojan, Leslie Newman and Corey Nelson. Runners up were Sandy Cetin, Brittany Lahr, John Schloendorn, Stephen Geissler, Peter Pritchard and Shannon Schojan.
