[ARCHIVED] House Fire in Ironbound Square

Alesa.JPG

A house on Alesa Drive in the Ironbound Square subdivision of James City County was heavily damaged by fire today, and an elderly female resident was taken to a local hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. On December 15, 2016 at about 1:23 pm a James City County Fire Department engine company while on routine assignment spotted heavy smoke in the Irondbound Road area and investigated, discovering heavy flames and smoke coming from the rear of the home. The female resident was assisted from her front porch and was treated by medics and taken to Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center in stable condition. While firefighters worked to control the fire, a dog was found in the rear of the home to have perished due to the fire. It took about 40 minutes to bring the fire under control involving 30 firefighters from James City County and assisted by the City of Williamsburg. The home is not inhabitable. Fire marshal's are investigating, and there is no determination of cause at this time.
