LS 1-5 Area 1 Flextran Rehabilitation Project

Description:

This project consists of rehabilitating approximately 11,450 linear feet of 15- and 18-inch Flextran gravity sewer pipe located primarily along Chisel Run, north and south of Longhill Road. The Flextran pipe is a thin-walled fiberglass pipe that was installed in the early to mid 1970’s and is susceptible to structural failure over time. The rehabilitation process involves lining the pipe with a cured-in-place liner which strengthens the host pipe and seals any leaks that may exist. The manholes (approximately 45 of them) will be rehabilitated by coating the interiors with an epoxy coating system. It is anticipated that this rehabilitation project will significantly reduce storm and ground water inflow and infiltration into the sanitary sewer system and extend its useful life.
