Chickahominy Haven - Canal Street (complete)
Sept. 6, 2013
Scope of Work
This project consists of the replacement of a failed stormwater drainage pipe from Canal Street to a mam-made canal that is tributary to the Chickahominy River. The project will remove an existing failed 18” metal pipe with a polypropylene pipe. The existing pipe is not located within a drainage easement so a public drainage easement is required to be obtained from both property owners involved. The project will help alleviate a flooding problem that impacts several properties and septic drainfields in this portion of Chickahominy Haven.
Status of Project
The project has been designed and approved by the county. Easements from the two property owners involved have been signed and recorded. A wetlands permit was obtained for the minor work necessary to install a riprap outfall in the tidal canal. The project was bid and awarded to Toano Contractors, Inc. The work was completed on June 21.
