From I-64, take Exit 242A which leads to Route 199 West. Proceed on 199 West approximately two miles to the first stoplight. Turn left at the light onto Mounts Bay Road. Proceed on Mounts Bay about 200 yards and take the first right-hand turn. This is the entrance to the James City County Government Center. Building Safety and Permits Division is in Building E. Some routine Building Safety and Permits Division transactions can also be handled by the James City County Satellite Services Office located next to the Fire Station in Toano, VA. Monday through Friday - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. except for holidays.
