Social Services to Host Avoiding Scams Workshop

Avoiding Scams Workshop

Scams, fraud and identity theft are becoming bigger problems every day. If you have ever been hoodwinked by an internet scam, found yourself the victim of identity theft, or just hesitated to enter your credit card information for that online purchase, join James City County Social Services for their Avoiding Scams workshop. Master Police Officer Alan McDowell of James City County Police will present the latest information about various scams and fraudulent schemes, and give you the tools to protect yourself against them.

The workshop will be held Wednesday, June 20 at 6 p.m. at the Human Services Center at 5249 Olde Towne Road, courtesy of Social Services' Family Self-Sufficiency Program.

Avoiding Scams is part of a regularly-occurring workshop series organized for participants in the Family Self-Sufficiency Program. The class is geared toward adults of all ages and stages of life. The workshop is free and open to anyone who would like to attend. Call 757-259-5393 to reserve your seat.
