On Feb. 7, a groundbreaking ceremony was held at the James City County (JCC) Marina, 2054 Jamestown Road, for the future home of Billsburg Brewery, Inc. (Billsburg). The concrete foundation of the new 4,000 square foot brewing operation will be poured this week.
The future tasting room of Billsburg will be adjacent to the brewing operations. Billsburg announced construction plans in August 2016. The property is leased to Billsburg through the JCC Economic Development Authority.
“We expect the process of construction for the new building for Billsburg to happen fairly quickly following the planning and bidding phases of the project. The Economic Development Authority is pleased that a local contractor, David J. Nice Builders was awarded the contract,” said Thomas Tingle, chair of the JCC Economic Development Authority.
Following release of the building to Billsburg for tenant improvements, they will require a period of time for buildout and brewing. The current anticipated opening of Billsburg will be fall 2017.
The County continues to offer marina services and rentals at the site during construction. Follow James City County online for continued updates on the progress of Billsburg.
