For over 35 years local volunteers have removed over seven million pounds of trash from County roadsides and illegal dump sites during the annual Spring Cleanup. On select Saturdays in April, volunteers give their time and energy to collect trash in areas where it would have otherwise polluted the environment.
For more information on organizing litter cleanups throughout the year, contact the Environmental Coordinator at 757-259-5375 or email us for more information.
Individuals, organizations and businesses may adopt a designated area for a period of at least 1 year. Over that time, group members come together to keep their spot clean, litter free and beautiful. Complete the Adopt-A-Spot Application Agreement online to participate in the Adopt-A-Spot program. Call 757-259-5375 or email us for more information.

Recycling & Litter Prevention
As part of the Clean County Commission's mission to promote a healthy,
beautiful environment, we are strong advocates for recycling and
efficient waste management. Everyone should recycle in the interest of
conserving the finite natural resources of the Earth and to protect the
environment for future generations.
